Quick answer

Great Clips is usually $1 to $4 cheaper than Supercuts for a basic adult haircut, at about $19 to $27 versus $22 to $30 in 2026.

Independent site. We have no ties to Supercuts, Regis Corporation, Great Clips or any chain below. By the SupercutsPricess editorial team, last reviewed September 15, 2026.

Both chains sell the same basic thing, a fast haircut without a booked appointment. The differences are smaller than the logos suggest, but a few of them matter.

Great Clips is more than twice the size. It lists more than 4,400 salons in the US and Canada, all franchised.

Supercuts, the walk-in hair salon chain owned by Regis Corporation, had 1,744 salons on March 31, 2026, per the Regis Q3 fiscal 2026 report.

Great Clips or Supercuts prices, side by side

For a plain adult cut, Great Clips usually costs a little less. The gap is roughly the price of a coffee, and it can flip in some towns.

Great Clips facts from its customer service FAQ. Supercuts ranges match our Supercuts prices pillar.

Which is cheaper over a whole year?

Great Clips, most of the time. A guest cut every 4 weeks at $23 pays about $299 a year. The same 13 visits at a $26 Supercuts come to $338.

Supercuts Rewards narrows that. Members get 1 point per dollar and a free haircut at 400 points, according to the 2024 program launch.

With the 50-point signup bonus, that $338 year earns about 388 points, just short of a free cut. Reach 400 and the gap shrinks to about $13, if your points don’t expire first.

Great Clips counters with local coupons, often mailed or emailed. The amount and the expiry date change by market, so we can’t quote one national deal.

Our take? If you’d clip coupons, Great Clips is cheaper. If you forget coupons but visit every month, Supercuts Rewards does the saving for you.

Online Check-In and Clip Notes compared

Great Clips Online Check-In works from 5 minutes after opening until 15 minutes before closing, per its FAQ. It covers every service except perms and formal updos.

One catch. Great Clips says you can’t request a specific stylist through Online Check-In. Supercuts lets you pick a stylist in the app at many salons.

Clip Notes is the Great Clips answer to that. Its Clip Notes page says any stylist at any of its salons can read your saved cut details.

That’s genuinely useful if you travel. A guest from Minneapolis can walk into a Phoenix Great Clips and the stylist sees the same clipper guard numbers.

Supercuts stylists also keep notes, but we couldn’t confirm that they sync across every franchise salon. Ask your salon if it matters to you.

Neither chain takes traditional appointments for cuts. Great Clips states this plainly. See our Supercuts walk-in guide for wait-time tips.

How to compare prices at salons near you

  1. List the nearest salons. Search each chain’s app or website with your ZIP code and note the two or three closest.
  2. Start a check-in without finishing it. Many salons show services and wait times before you confirm.
  3. Call for the adult cut price. Ask for the price of the exact service you want, plus shampoo if you need it.
  4. Add the loyalty value. Take about 5% to 7% off the Supercuts price if you’d reach reward tiers within a year.
  5. Check the wait. Compare wait times at the hour you’d actually go, since a $3 saving isn’t worth 45 extra minutes.

Supercuts vs Great Clips FAQs

Can I get my hair colored at Great Clips?

No. Great Clips says its salons don’t provide hair coloring. Supercuts and Fantastic Sams both list color services at many salons.

Usually neither charges extra for a fade. Both tend to price it as a standard adult cut, though a few salons add a few dollars.
